Listening · Foundation drills

Train one question type at a time.

Untimed practice with the recording in your hands. Replay it, scrub it, and after every answer go straight back to the moment it was spoken. The drill moves you up a level when you are ready and back down when a level is fighting you.

Tier 1 · Catching the detail

Names, numbers, dates and the value a speaker changes their mind about.

Tier 2 · Following the speaker

Holding your place while somebody walks you through a space and keeps talking.

Tier 2 · Writing what you hear

One recording carries both tasks, the way a real Section 4 does — a table first, then the discussion sentences.

Before you start. Read the page before you press Play — decide what kind of answer each gap needs, or find the entrance and north on the plan. The recording plays at normal speed, exactly as it does in the real test; it will not slow down for you, and neither will the exam. Every answer is marked the moment you give it, and the transcript for a line unlocks only once you have answered it.
