Multiple Choice

10 passages, each with six single-answer multiple-choice questions. Choose the option (A–D) that best matches the passage. The reason appears instantly.

How this question type works
  • Read the question stem carefully before the options — know exactly what is asked.
  • The right answer is the one the passage supports, even if worded differently. Don't pick an option just because its words appear in the text.
  • Distractors are often true statements that don't answer the question, or half-true twists.
  • Eliminate clearly wrong options first, then decide between the two that remain.
  • For ‘the writer suggests/implies’, look for what logically follows from the text, not a direct quote.

Worked example — let's solve one together

Passage: “Caffeine blocks a chemical that makes us feel sleepy, which is why it keeps us alert.”

Question: How does caffeine keep people awake?  A) by adding energy · B) by blocking a sleep chemical · C) by speeding the heart · D) by raising temperature.

Answer: B. The text says caffeine “blocks a chemical that makes us feel sleepy.” The other options aren't the mechanism the passage gives.
